ABC's and 123's and How 2 B A Friend!

This morning I was off to a new school and determined to make the best of it. I was suppose to sub in the school's S.A.I.L. program, which stands for Students Assisted In Learning. The only reason why I picked up this job was because it was the only half day morning that I could find. I had some errands that I had to run in the afternoon. A plus for subbing: picking when and how long you want to sub.

Well it turned out that there was some miscommunication and that they didn't need me. I was a little frustrated because I drove so far and need the money. Just then the phone rang and the secretary answered it. A sub did not show up so they would need me after all. It is funny how things work out. The class was amazing and I am glad I got the opportunity to sub for them. I had no problems at all. The kids listened, worked quietly, and even help me out when I needed it. They were a true joy to teach. Besides having a class of angels there was something different about this class, oh yeah they had no chairs! Now this is a class of 21 second graders, how do they not have chairs?! Well in place of chairs they had yoga balls! YOGA BALLS!!!! I thought that was the greatest thing I have ever seen. You would think that the yoga balls would be distracting, but no. After getting use to the occasional bobbing child and ball gone rogue the kids did great. That is definitely one idea I will be stealing. The only thing I did not like about the yoga balls was that when a ball did go rogue I had to ask, "Who lost their ball"? or "Someones ball is escaping".

After educating young children while they strengthened their core muscles I was off to my sister's house to help her study for a big test she has coming up. I always enjoy going over to her house because she has a huge family and her kids are around my age. My sister was finishing up on the computer so I went to my niece's room to hang out with her and her almost 2 yr old daughter. The little one requested Barney so I sat with her on the bed and watched Barney with her. We sang the opening song together(which I know everyone knows) and it was just funny to see how entranced this little person can be with a giant purple dinosaur. My sister called so I went downstairs to get things prepared. She had to make some calls so I planted myself on the couch to watch t.v. I needed a break from Barney. Grease was on. I freaking love that movie. I got comfortable on the couch and sang along with the songs, I love me some musicals. My sister comes to sit on the other couch and we are relaxing watching Grease. She fell asleep on the couch and I was comfortable where I was. Needless to say there was no studying that day. We rescheduled for tomorrow in the late afternoon.

Tomorrow I am subbing at my favorite school for a class I have never been in, for a teacher I don't really know. I am excited to see a whole new environment and interested to see what procedures she has in place. Hopefully I can steal some ideas from her.
