Today has been the first day in a while that has ended on a spectacular note for me. But before we can get to the end, we must start at the beginning of the day.
I have been subbing exclusively at a certain school because a) I did my student teaching there and am comfortable there, b) the students at this school know me, and c)people request me there to sub for them.
Well today I was subbing for one of my favorite classes in kindergarten. I love the little people. They are fun and think you are awesome no matter what you do. Now I love this class but there is one student who wears me out! We shall call him Milo for the sake of anonymity. Here is a tiny snip it of how Milo and I's day went:
Milo: "Ruff! Ruff!"
Me: "Milo, please stop barking it's distracting".
Milo: "Meow! Meow"
Me: "Milo, please stop meowing".
Milo: "Raaaawwrrrrr!"
Me: "Milo, please stop roaring".
Milo: (begins to roll around on the floor)
Me: "Milo you need to go back to your spot on the carpet".
Milo: "I'm going to get you".
Me: "Milo, to your spot".
Milo: (lunges at leg, latches on, and refuses to let go)
Me: (In a stern voice) "Milo. To your spot".
Milo: (reluctantly goes to his spot and starts barking)
This was wearing thin with me but I would not trade it for the world. Even with Milo, at the end of the day, emptying out all the tubs of different sorted toys.
Later on in the day the kinders had some time to free write in their journals. Four of them wrote about me. I took pictures of their journals to post on here. I will upload them soon. These constant reminders are why I can't wait to teach. Let's just hope I don't get Milo in my class.lol
Tonite was the school's PTA Silent Auction. It is a great fundraiser for the school and the atmosphere allows teachers and parents to mingle in a stress/school free environment. I rode with a few of the teachers that I am pretty good friends with to the auction. It was at a nice country club. Once we walked in we had to get our name tags and then off to mingle. In the course of less than an hour I had 9 different sets of parents from the different classes I have subbed in come up to me and say, "Are you THE Mr. Sosa?" To which I blushed and replied with a modest yes. They would then introduce themselves as (insert child's name)'s parents and then proceed to tell me how much their child loves me and calls home when they find out I am their sub. It was truly heart warming. I thought it was a great way to end a week of subbing. It is times like these that that goofy smile I mentioned before won't go away.
