Deere John,

If you are as clever as me then you know that this blog has something to so with tractors and hard labor. If you thought that, then you are correct!

I had another day off from subbing. I think the shortage in jobs this week is because it is TAKS week. That ever so important test is going on all over Texas. I feel sorry for the kids who have to take that pointless test. I feel even more sorry for the teachers that have to teach it. I am anticipating a plethora of jobs next week.

Ok back to the blog title. Since I had nothing to do today I decided to go with my dad to his property in Kyle. He asked me to mow the lawn for him. I was excited! I love mowing the lawn out there because I get to use the riding lawn mower and it was a beautiful day. I forget how many acres he has but to give you an estimate I mowed for about 2.5 hours and only mowed a 1/4 of the property. Now I have a nice little farmer's tan to show for it. I wonder what adventures are in store for me tomorrow?

I'm A Gamer

I never thought it would happen to me. Becoming addicted to online games. Oh how the mighty have fallen. I make fun of gamers. Since I have had a lot of free time on my hands I have been playing games online. I don't just mean a game here and a game there. It is a few hours here and a few hours there. The thought of out strategizing someone I don't know gives me the goose pimples. It is seriously and adrenaline rush when victory flashes on the screen. I can't help it. The was not a total loss though. I did get out twice today. That's right 2 times in a 24 hour period.

First I went with my parents to go take pictures of the little girl my step-mom nannies for. It is going to be a mother's day present for her mom. That little girl is a trip. I like to push her buttons and get her going. She is only 2 mind you. Well today while I was karate chopping her in the neck she looked over to me and said, "Jesse, stop. I am talking to Maria. I am busy." I almost peed my pants from laughing so hard. She is only 2!

The next time I went out was to have a late lunch/ early dinner with my friend Shea. She was southish for a babysitting job and needed to kill some time before meeting them. It was a nice day so we outside and enjoyed the weather. The simple pleasures life has to offer.

No Doors?

Its funny that I didn't post a blog yesterday, especially since I did basically nothing yesterday. I did sub half day for a librarian at Menchaca Elementary in South Austin. Walking down to halls I was amazed. There were no doors and the top 3 feet of the walls were missing. It was awkward, for lack of a better word. You could hear everything that was going. I would think that it would be distracting for the kids. I did talk to a few of the teachers who really liked it. They said they like it because they can hear their other teammates to keep them on schedule and steal ideas. After the initial shock I was in the library. I read to 2 classes of 1st graders. I love reading to kids. Then for the rest of my time there I filed books. Is filed the right word? Sorted? No! Shelved! There we go. I shelved books for the remainder of my time there. It was boring/fun. I got to flip through tons of books before shelving them.

A magically good time!

This weekend had been a pretty good weekend. It all started on Friday with dinner and Disney Trivia at a close friend's apartment. Let's just say that I pretty much dominated in trivia and in dinner.lol My close friend really knows how to cook. What would I do without her? The weather got pretty cray-cray so I decided to head home. The sky was all a fury. It was kind of cool and scary at the same time.

Saturday was a day for family. My step-mom and sister were having a garage sale at the house so everyone was over. Laughs and food were quite the bounty. I love my family. They are a bunch of crazy mexicans, and mexicans know how to did it big. Case in point: my ass.lol Later in the night was my old rommie's birthday party. It was great time. I met up with old friends and made new ones. 3 beers, 2 shots, 8 jello shots, and 1 drunken stupor later it was time to go.

Today will probably be a chill day at home. I had lunch with my friend Shea. It was nice to talk about life, liberty, and the pursuit of a job. Shea and I are on the same boat as far as jobs go, so we really understand each other's frustrations. She is a sweet heart. I am lucky to have such great friends.

"You're Fancy!"

Today I woke up to my phone ringing. I was off so I decided to stay up late last night. I was not anticipating a call at 9 in the morning. I am glad I answered it though. It was a job I had interviewed for the summer. They called to offer me the job! Yay! I am going to be a summer camp counselor for 5-8 year olds. It doesn't officially start until June 9th but they said I could start early, which I just might.

I was getting bed sores from laying in bed too much so I decided to pick up a half day sub job. I have not subbed in Austin ISD yet so that's where I started my search. I found a job at Mills Elementary in a kinder class. I swear that the class I was in had the most beautiful kids. Every single one of them was adorable. When I got there they were at lunch so I had time to talk with the teacher. She had not written any plans so while we were chatting she wrote up a schedule of what we were to do. They were the most vaguely written plans I had ever seen. We had a good day though. I went to pick them up from lunch and they were so excited to see me! One child said that I looked fancy and important. I must say that I was wearing my favorite outfit. It seemed that the day went by really fast. Before I knew it, it was time to go. I took them outside. When they saw their parents they would tell me and I would dismiss them. Every single one gave me a hug before they left. I was only there half a day and they loved me enough to hug me bye. It was one of those moments when I knew that this is what I am meant to do.

Shoes!

So today has been filled with a whole lotta nada. I woke up early to go to an interview to work at a summer camp. I need to find something to do over the summer for money. I think the interview went really well. They like me and said that they were going to call me references and get back to me. I know for sure that they called 2 of my 3 references already to ask about me. So here's hoping!

After my interview I got a call from my friend Liz. She is basically the new me. By that I mean she is interning and student teaching with the teacher I was with. She was on her way to get a massage and wanted to know if I would go to the mall with her later. Like I can turn down a trip to the mall. About an hour and a half later she calls me to tell me she is on her way to the mall. We did lunch at California Pizza Kitchen with another intern named Laura. It was delicious. After indulging ourselves in salad and pizza were off to hunt for shoes. Liz is going to a pretty classy party and needs a new pair of shoes for the outfit she wants to wear. It was a pretty fun day. Liz left with 2 pairs of gold shoes and a new gold hobo. I left being very proud of myself for not spending any money. Laura, well she just left.lol

Since I haven't worked all week I decided to take some action. I e-mailed 20 principals a cover letter and resume. Hopefully something will come of it. I really want/need a job for next year.

Happy Earth Day!

In honor of Earth Day I have been trying to exert as less energy as possible. That means that I have not done anything yesterday or today.lol Not really I have been tutoring Algebra at ACC instead of subbing. I did look for sub jobs today but every job I tried to pick up got taken by the time I tried. Oh well.

I think I might go meet up with some of the new interns and go swimming at their pool. They invited me via AIM and I could use a break from the nothingness. Plus I really need to work on my tan.
