I was watching a terrific new show called "Miss Guided". It comes on ABC. I caught a preview for it and I knew it was a show for me. It is a guidance counselor and the crazy mishaps that go on in her school with teachers and students. If you are an educator you will definitely enjoy it. There was a character on the show played by Ashton Kutcher. He is this awe-inspiring substitute teacher who doesn't like the word sub, but prefers to be called a wandering educator. I gave a good chuckle to that one. So for now on I would like to be referred to as a wandering educator. It sounds more glamorous. Plus I would like to believe that I am more than just a substitute. Substitute just doesn't suit me. Now wandering educator is a title I can wear proudly.
Today I got the chance to wander into a kindergarten class and educate. I was back to my "home" school. The place where I feel most comfortable and well at home. I would rename this school Cheers Elementary because there everyone knows my name and is glad I came. Oh that gets me every time. It was a pretty good day. We started off strong and on task. It seemed the more the day drug on the more antsy the kids became. I had to find a way to get them to listen and stay on task. I turned to the one thing I do best, drawing. I made cute little awards for different things and told the students I would be looking for these actions. I did not expect it to work as well as it did. Immediately I saw a difference. I had a "Best Mallow" award. I explained to the kids that when we are in the hall that I would be looking for the student who held the biggest marshmallow in their mouth, of course the marshmallow was imaginary. It kept the kids quiet and focused in the hall. Worked like a charm. It was funny to see a class of kindergartners walking down the hall with puffy cheeks. It was a recipe for instant goofy smile. I love these days.

David Archuleta
Hooray for subbing. I am so glad that I had a purpose today. I don't think I could taken another day of bumming out on the couch. Well I could have, but no subbing makes Jesse a dull boy. I was at a brand new school to me. I had not been to this school yet but was a little excited to try something new. I was only half day in a kindergarten but hey that's easy money. I got there early to go over lesson plans and meet the class. When I entered the room the kids weren't there, they were at lunch, and the teacher had a pleasant surprise waiting for me. She had a student teacher who was going to teach the rest of the day. I was only there for legal reasons. Ideally this sounds like a sweet day. Getting paid to do practically nothing. That was not the case. Boredom quickly took over after only 10 minutes! I really wanted to teach and interact with the kids, but the student teacher was doing that. I was basically there for moral support. Man, I can't wait have my own class where I call the shots.
After school I received a text message from my close friend about having dinner together. I said I would so I had to kill some time up north because I didn't want to drive all the way back home. So I stopped by Planet Replay to see if any of my friends were working. My friend Josh was there so I stopped and chatted. Planet Replay sells DVDs for really reasonable prices. After chatting with Josh I browsed through there movies. I think when I get paid I am going back to buy on of the seasons of Dallas. Here's hoping it will still be there!
I was feeling a little famished so I decided to stop by La Madeleine for a little snack. I had a vanilla latte and a cinnamon apple muffin. The latte was delicious but the muffin... not so much. I would not recommend the muffin to a friend. Feeling re-energized from the latte I decided to stop at a few shops on the way to my friend's house. Gap and Pottery Barn to name a few. After visiting Pottery Barn, I know what I am buying after I earn my first million dollars.
Finally I arrive at my close friend's apartment. We eat dinner and watch some shows she has DVR'd. One of the shows being last night's American Idol. They were doing the Beatles' songs... again... how original. One of the contestants peaks my interest, and not because of their talent. You guessed right, David Archuleta. He is a great singer and is doing a terrific job. I can't believe he is only 17 years old. But no one is perfect. Not only is he from Utah but I think he might have "special needs". I am not being mean it's just my observations. Just watch him when he's not singing. His actions and the way he speaks. Then let me know what you think. I do think he will make the top 3. He is one of my favorites, it's just what I see.

Don't judge me!
I am officially the laziest person I know. I was looking at sub jobs online last night to see where I would pick up a job but they were all in north Round Rock. I live in South Austin so you can see my point, if not who are you to judge me?!lol I even used Google maps to see how far the schools were and the closest one was 1hr and 15min away. I figured I would save the money on gas.
I don't think I even left the house today. Wait I did, I had to move my car. It's super lazy days like today I wish I had a job. No worries, tomorrow I am subbing at a new school. I am a little nervous. Going somewhere new and unfamiliar. No one there knows my name and are hardly glad I came. If the school's name was Cheers Elementary I would be a little more enthusiastic about going. How will I cope? I guess we'll find out in tomorrow's blog. One thing I know for sure is that everyone could use a little more Jesse in their lives. That's why I do it. That and for the kids of course.
I am trying to think if I did anything worthwhile. I watched T.V., played Scrabble online, and looked for a summer job. Wow aren't I interesting. Hopefully things in my life will pick up. I am going to a job fair at the end of the month. Fingers crossed.
On my many hours online today I came across a comic. The more I read these comics the more
intrigued I became. They are kind of dry, morbid, and for lack of a better word: awkward. The illustrations left something to be desired. Here is one that I kind of liked. If only all of our conflicts could be solved this way.

Right Wrong or Wrong Right?
Monday:
School is back in session and no sub job today for Jesse. It was ok though because I had some errands I needed to run.
Errand #1: Turn in sub application to Austin ISD and check teacher application status. I had everything to turn in for subbing, despite the receptionist's snide comments, so all I have to do is wait to go to orientation. I can't imagine what that will be like. As for my teaching application for AISD all I have out is an evaluation my professor needs to do. I really need to mail that to her asap.
Errand #2: Return class hamster. The poor hamster was abandoned for spring break so I decided to bring him home. Hamster are relatively easy creature to care for, until they ravage your bath robe! On this episode of When Hamster Attack an unsuspecting victim leaves his bath robe with in reach of an often docile hamster. However, when human is away rodent will play, or eat giant holes in your robe. I couldn't get mad though, he is so cute and fluffy. So I returned him back to his class.
Errand #3: Call my old facilitator Mrs. Debra Bay-Borelli. It was great catching up with Deb. I miss her ever so much. We are making plans to have lunch together soon. I would not be that amazing teacher/sub that I am today without Deb's guidance.
Errand #4: And by errand this time mean chore. I had to do laundry. I didn't realize how much clothes I have. There is seriously no more closet or dresser drawer space for all my clean clothes. Good thing layering is in, that will make freeing up space easy.
I had planned on spending the rest of the afternoon/ evening laying about, we know how rarely I get to do that, but my friend Erin called for me to hang out. I can't say no to her. She is one of those people that when I first met her I knew we were going to be friends forever. That is why we are married on facebook. I couldn't have wished for a better wife. We watched a few episodes of "Six Feet Under". I forgot how funny and twisted that show is. Finished with disc 1 we decided to change it up a little and watch "Gone Baby, Gone". Talk about mind blowing. That movie got my morals and values in an all out fist fight. It really made me think about what I would do in the situation. I know there is right and there is wrong but what do you do when there is a right wrong and a wrong right?

I need to buy it so I can make love to it and have ish babies!
Ok here is a book that I am madly in love with. It has caused me to say the quote, I am using for the post title, to a friend in casual conversation. It was a little awkward. Anyways I am demanding you go out and buy this book. You will be glad you did. Then you too can make love to it and have ish babies! It is "Ish" by Peter Reynolds. But it's free!
So since we got wireless my dad has discovered the free section on Craigslist. It's basically where people can get rid of stuff they no longer want. My dad is a sucker for things that are free. I woke up to him knocking on my door. He said for me to come out and socialize but what he really wanted was for me to go with him to pick up some free junk. 2 hours later we are returning to the house with an armoire and a lawn mower.
The rest of the day consisted of a lazy Sunday. I ate some left over queso and watched some America's Next Top Model. Thrilling I know. Luckily my close friend called me and save me from my model marathon.
She invited Jackie and I over for some dinner. Once again it was delicious. We even got to meet Jackie's dog Dusty. He was adorable but definitely no Tiva.lol After dinner we played Phase 10, which I would have totally won had people had not had to work tomorrow. Well Spring Break is over and I am off to bed. I need to wake up early to wear green and find a job to make the green.

It's a giant dolphin with rabies!
Today was a pretty good day. I am so full from eating! I need to take a good...
This morning I had to help my step-mom set up for a party we were hosting. It was an anniversary party for my parents. Just about everyone in my family was coming and bring some delicious dish. So to help out in setting up I put up some rope-light. Classy I know. That's how we roll in the south-side.hahah So that took me about 30 minutes and presto! My good deed for the day was done.
After hanging of the luminous rope I went over to my 32 years old pregnant niece's house. I know it sounds weird but go with me. I am the youngest of 17 siblings. We picked today to hang out. She is one of my favorite people to veg out with. She is also so close to popping it isn't funny. We went and had an appetizer at Baby Acapulco's and talked. We sat out on the patio since it was such a beautiful day. We talked about life and the anticipated arrival of her soon to be princess. We filled each other in on family gossip. I got to hear some pretty juicy stuff.lol After Baby A's we went to Marshall's to pick up some stuff for her house. We were pretty much spent after that so we went pack to her house to watch a movie. She is a pretty big John Cusak fan so we watched one of his earlier movies. It was called "One Crazy Summer". I liked it. It was an odd movie but made me laugh. The movie has that chuckle factor that I enjoy. There was a giant dolphin with rabies that kept coming up in the movie. You'll have to see it to fully understand and appreciate it.
The movie ended and I had to go home to get ready for the fiesta. I was in charge of queso and was running late. Good thing cheese melts pretty fast or else I would have been screwed. It was good to see most of my family in one spot. When we get together laughter and loudness ensue. Of course I over indulged myself in food and family. I laughed and ate till my stomach hurt.
